Never Too Old For An Apprenticeship
Can you do an apprenticeship at any age? Yes!
The definition of an apprenticeship is a paid job which offers hands-on work experience alongside off-the-job training. By the end of your apprenticeship, you will hopefully have gained the skills and knowledge needed to either succeed in your chosen career or progress to the next apprenticeship level.
There is no upper age limit for an apprenticeship and you are never too old to learn something new. There is a common misconception that apprenticeships are more suited to those fresh out of school and previously, apprenticeships were only available to those aged 16-24. However this maximum age has been scrapped, meaning that anyone over the age of 16 can apply for an apprenticeship. The main reason for this misconception is that many believe it is too late to upskill or make a career change.
Starting an apprenticeship is beneficial to anyone wanting to acquit new skills and restart their career whilst earning a wage at the same time! For an older person, an apprenticeship can rediscover your passion for learning. If you have been in the same job for some time, it is possible that you would not have flexed your brain muscles as much as you could have been. Additionally, an older apprentice has benefits for the new company as you are able to bring your previous skills and knowledge to your new role.
