Level 3 Paediatric First Aid

Our 12-hour Paediatric First Aid course covers all you need to know regarding emergency first aid for infants and children.

This course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care.

It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a nationally accredited Level 3 Award.

This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted. In order to obtain this qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units of accreditation.

General Information

  • How Long is the Course?

This course runs over a minimum of 12 hours and is usually run over two days – these don’t have to be consecutive: a popular choice is for the course to be over two Saturdays. 

  • How many units are there?

There are two units consisting of theoretical and practical work.

  • What do the units cover?

A range of subjects are covered including:

Responsibilities and reporting; Resuscitation; Assessment of the situation; Fainting; Dealing with an unresponsive casualty; Choking; Head injuries; Diabetes; Infantile convulsions; Foreign bodies; Control of bleeding; Anaphylaxia; Eye injuries; Fractures; Heat and Cold; Asthma; Sickle cell anaemia; Meningitis; Burns; and Shock. 

  • How is it assessed?

Assessment is ongoing by the instructor in respect of the student’s practical skills and there will be multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of their knowledge.

  • Who is the Awarding Body?

This qualification is awarded by NUCO.

  • How many candidates can be in a group?

We deliver to a minimum group size of 4 and up to a maximum of 12 candidates.

  • Where is the training held?

This course can be held at a location of your choice. We will work with you to find a suitable location, for example your workplace or a local community centre. Courses can be held anywhere across Hampshire.
