Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from the 12th to the 18th May and is an annual event that aims to raise awareness and educate the public on mental health.  The campaign is organised by the Mental Health Found Foundation and involves a series of campaigns, events and discussions around mental health, promoting access to support and resources.

It encourages open conversations about mental health which can help reduce stigma and make it easier for individuals to seek help when needed. Mental Health Awareness Week is crucial in promoting understanding and support for mental health issues and encouraging individuals to prioritise their mental well-being. It serves as a platform for starting conversations, challenging misconceptions, and advocating for better mental health services and policies.

The theme for 2025 is ‘Community’ which is all about celebrating the power and importance of community. Being part of a safe and positive community is important for our mental health and wellbeing. Strong connections with others and supportive communities remind us that we are not alone and help us to thrive. They provide a sense of belonging, safety, support, as well as a sense of purpose.

Mental health is more than just a small part of our everyday lives, it forms part of everything that we do. It has an impact on our identify, how we see ourselves and how others see you. It also affects our motivation to get out of bed in the morning and the choices that we make throughout the day. Therefore, it is absolutely vital that we prioritise our mental wellbeing and take steps to protect ourselves.
